The path
Your device still makes one connection. Extra stops live on our servers, not as extra apps on your phone. How the rest works.
What each stop is for
| Who uses it | What it’s doing | |
|---|---|---|
| First stop | Every path | The café or hotel sees this. It’s where your device actually connects. On this demo that’s Mexico City or Chicago, depending on the path. |
| Between our servers | Gamer (out of the country), Super Secure | Encrypted from one of our boxes to the next. Not the address websites see. |
| Los Angeles | Super Secure | A middle stop on this demo. Still the United States. An extra stop, not another country. |
| Last stop | Every path | The city websites see. It stays put while you’re in the middle of something. You usually get your own public address. The gamer path never shares one with other customers. |
| Split-trust | Nobody yet | A stop in a country we don’t run, so one country’s papers can’t tie your account to the sites you visit. Not live. We won’t pretend it is. |
The three paths
City of your choice. One stop. You pick Mexico City or Chicago. Los Angeles isn’t a city you can pick as “the whole path” here — it’s only the middle box. Price TBD.
Out of the country gamer. You connect in Mexico, then websites see the city you want. If that city is also Mexico, you stay on that box and we keep the queues quiet for games. If you pick another city, we carry you there on our side. Your computer still makes one connection.
Super Secure. Mexico City, then Los Angeles, then your city. If you pick Mexico as the last city, we send you to Chicago instead, so the last stop isn’t the same as the first. Three boxes. Mexico and the US. Not a country we don’t run.
What can move
| Piece | Moves? | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| You to the first stop | Yes, every few minutes, with our app | The café, hotel, or your internet provider |
| Between our servers | Yes, when the app follows that change | Us |
| Last stop | No, not in the middle of a connection | Websites |
The timer is about three minutes, and only on paths that already use extra stops. City-only and same-city gamer stay put — there’s no other first stop to land on. Regular WireGuard files never follow a move. They keep one address until you make a new file.
What we won’t do
- Change the city websites see in the middle of a connection.
- Send one page load out two different public addresses.
- Bounce the first stop for every packet. Pages would break, and it wouldn’t really hide you.
- Add fake traffic to hide when you’re online. A timer is not mixing.
- Put you on a shared address when you’re using extra stops. The box you connect to should pass you along.
Keeping downloads from stalling is our job on the servers. That isn’t a privacy feature. It just keeps the path from looking broken.
